The Awkward Customer | Logo and Brand Identity


The Awkward Customer provides made-to-measure, sustainable hampers and gift packs, hand-selected to suit a wide range of dietary requirements.

Bristol-based start-up The Awkward Customer needed help with defining their brand voice and creating a new brand identity. I worked with the client to understand their users and their product offering, which helped me to define the core message in the paragraph above. I also came up with the creative strapline “We make the fuss for you”, which works in tandem with the brand name.

The logo design uses a customised typeface with extended letter strokes, to reflect the quirky name. The friendly yet awkward duck illustration enhances their visual identity and was developed to be used in the future as the brand mascot, a.k.a. “Frank”!

The result is an instantly recognisable brand marque that is fun and friendly yet professional and welcoming to a wide audience.

Designs created so far include the logo, branded stationery, social media assets, packaging and stickers and a detailed brand guidelines document. I’m looking forward to seeing this fantastic company grow, and helping them to develop their brand further in the coming year.
